Hello and Welcome to my first Dollshouse project - a Victorian Terrace set in the 1940's..
Saturday, 24 September 2011
I found this old dollshouse cooker on a market stall and it inspired me to get started...I'll most probably be making a lot of it up as I go along but have lots of inspiration and any tips along the way would be great!
Good luck with your project Rachel- I'm sure you will have loads of fun with it. If KT Miniatures can help you in anyway - don't hesitate to contact me. Be warned....once you embark on this hobby it becomes completely obsessive!!! Celia
Thankyou so much Celia, although I'm only just starting I think I'm already obsessed!! I've been collecting a few bits over the last year, now I need to start to put it all together. I love the 30's/40's eras and drool over your website, i'll be definitely in touch.
What a fun project. The cooker is wonderful. No wonder it inspired you to start on this project. There is a book called Thirties and Forties Miniatures in 1:12 Scale by Jane Harrop. It might have some good patterns in it. Susan
Thankyou Susan. I have Jane Harrop's book, I love it and have bought almost half her kits!! Have just made the standard lamp this evening!;) I'm not sure I'll be totally accurate but as long as it gives the right feel of the era I'll be happy
Just catching up with your lovely blog (a long overdue visit!) I sold the cooker at either Shepton mallet or Ardingly Antiques fair.. or was it Newark? Anyway, not York. The house is coming on beautifully. Lizzie

ReplyDeleteIt is a great book, but I have yet to make anything in it. Maybe this winter.

That cooker is a great start to your obsession. You didn't buy it from me did you? I sold one like it a year or so ago! Lizzie
ReplyDeleteHi Lizzie, that would be funny, I think I found it a year or two ago on a market stall in York?
